St Ives

St Ives is only a short 10 minute drive by car or 15 minutes by bus. Parking can be difficult and expensive in St Ives so there are several other altrnatives tan driving into St Ives town. The bus stop for St Ives is less than a five minute walk from the apartments. Here is a link for the bus time table You need to choose Hayle Foundry Square to St Ives Malakoff. The bus option is the fastest and easiest way to St Ives. Another option is catching a train from Hayle train station (again about a five minute walk from the apartments) but this involves changing at St Erth and taking the train to St Ives. The last option is to drive to Lelant (a few minutes drive from Hayle) then take the Park and Ride train from Lelant Saltings station. This train journey is known as one of the prettiest train rides in the UK. It takes in breathtaking coastal views via Lelant, Carbis Bay and St Ives. The train journey is also about 10 minutes. You can walk the coastal path from Lelant into St Ives. It is a beautiful walk taking in similar views as the train

St Ives offers three, very pretty, and easily accessible beaches which have shops, cafes and toilets and other amenities nearby. The only drawback is that they can get very busy during high season. Porthmeor is the biggest beach followed by Porthminster and finally Porthgwidden
There is a Tate Modern at Porthmeor beach which features both International Modern and Contemporary Art. There are many other galleries and potteries to see plus many good quality small shops for you to peruse. There are numerous high quality cafes, bars, pubs and restaurants for to choose from. In the busy times we suggest you book in advance if there is a particular place you wish to eat. Most of the eateries are good. Here are some of our favourite places to eat.

Carbis Bay

Is half way between Hayle and St Ives. It has a very pretty beach which quite easily accessed but can be difficult to park. There is a small take away/ice cream shop. It also has a beautiful hotel The Carbis Bay Hotel that has stunning views over the beach and offers a great place to eat or have a drink. It is quite an upmarket hotel so the prices can be quite expensive for dinner but they offer snack/sandwich style meals at lunch for a reasonable price

Its is also the home of our nearest Tesco! It closes at 8pm
